The New Yorker

Social Media Direction

I art direct and oversee visuals for The New Yorker’s off-platform presence. I also redesigned its social media identity and design guidelines, emphasizing a cinematic approach that complements the magazine’s immersive journalism.

The old design with the white background combined with the inset art gave the feeling of a news-site screenshot, pairing down the typographic elements, making the art full bleed, and adding colors directly referencing the art, created a bold visual first sensibility.

The New Yorker Social, Special Projects — Direction & Design

For our vertical video content, I designed templates incorporating archival spot illustrations from the 1930’s to evoke a sense of play while maintaining a clear connection to the original brand.

Design, direction, concept, and sequencing for The New Yorker’s Year in Photography, featuring the magazine's most compelling commissioned photography. Photo editing by Joanna Milter and Noelle Flores Théard. My narrative framing highlighted fun, behind-the-scenes details from the photo shoots. Creating three carousel experiences for social media that mirrored the experience of diving into a magazine feature.

The first photo essay was framed around delight—photographs from fashion, fiction, and playful journalistic moments—like a shoot of baby lead weaning.

The next photo essay was framed around politics—from the U.S. presidential election, to the campus protests at Columbia University.

The framing for the final photo essay was photography that showed us the world, highlighting the documentary photography commissioned by the magazine.

I create custom visual identities for The New Yorker’s digital only issues — helping brand the content across platforms.
