Columnist Branding

I create visual treatments, and assign artists for The New Yorker’s columnists and special series, helping readers instantly recognize a contributor’s perspective and expertise.

When applied to pickup photography these treatments provide
immediate visual signaling to differentiate the work of our columnists from other contributors, all while underscoring the quality of The New Yorker’s commissioned visuals, which remain untreated

In addition to the application on pickup photography, the gradient offers a color scheme for commissioned art.

The treatment offers a dynamic visual signature that can be used in promotion—unifying the voice of the writer across different assets and platforms.

The treatment for Susan B. Glasser’s column supports on the ongoing brand identity for the political scene podcast (of which she is a regular contributor).

I art directed and commissioned templates by Chantal Jahchan for Book Currents, The New Yorker’s weekly column highlighting notable figures and what they’re reading.

I art direct Open Questions, a philosophical column by Joshua Rothman, exploring what it means to be human is illustrated by Josie Norton and branded by a distinct color palette.

I created repeatable art direction templates for fiction podcast content that reduced unnecessary work on photo editors while solving technical challenges with the fiction redesign for the homepage.
